During this private event, Sponsored by Match, I heard all about new singles events by Match.com.
It was one of my favorite experiences during BlogHer this year.
Why? Because I was in great company with like minded women (and two really hot men) who blog about the single life. With so many “mommy bloggers” out there it’s always nice when I find myself amongst a group of bloggers like me who are anything but a mommy blogger.
At one point two vibrators toppled out of one of the blogger’s bags and fell at my feet, and at that moment I knew I was right where I belonged.
In between networking, nibbling on some amazeballs food and drinking vodka on the rocks, I learned all about how Match is mixing up online dating with their new initiative to meet your match in a more organic way.
Relationship expert Whitney Casey was even there talking online dating and looking fabulous as always. I had a great conversation with her about lubricants and KY, which was equally as fabulous.
Match.com recently announced that they are hosting singles events across the country called Stir events. Due to positive feedback and enthusiasm from singles, these events are rapidly popping up across the United States so everyone can join in the fun!
As the world’s largest dating site, Match isn’t just throwing live singles events – they’re doing it on a massive scale. This month alone, they’re throwing 189 events in more than 62 markets! And by September, there will be 200 events each month.
With thousands of singles attending Stir events each week, Match.com is bridging the gap between the online and offline worlds, creating even more ways to meet singles — which is great for a person like me who has had shit-tastic luck thus far while online dating.
You’ve read my And That’s Why They’re Single posts right?
I’m a firm believer in fate so I love that these new Stir events facilitate two people meeting in that way. Sometimes online dating and shuffling through profiles feels a bit forced, where as these events by Match.com are more about being in the right place at the right time.
Plus we all know how hard it is to pick the perfect profile picture and the right words when messaging someone online for the first time. I can’t tell you how many men I’ve written off due to poor grammar or awkwardness in an email. Had I met them randomly in person I might have been more open to getting jiggy with them.
Stir events range from large scale happy hours at local bars, to more intimate, interest-based events such as cooking classes, wine and tequila tastings, dance lessons, bowling nights, rock climbing, and more.
I’m ridonkulously excited to get to attend a Stir event. That’s right… I’m going to be your guinea pig and report back to you in a follow-up post with the inside scoop on Stir in a few weeks. I have my fingers crossed that it’s one of the more interest-based events that involve booze.
Stir happy hour events are free and open to both registered and subscribed Match.com members (which means you can even drag a friend along if you feel anxious about going alone), while the interest-based events are strictly offered to Match.com subscribers at a free.
What sets a Stir event apart from heading out to your local bar to meet your next big love? Each Stir event is customized through Match’s patented matching algorithms which look at age, gender and interests so that you’re attending an event with like people.
So that means all the people at my event will be completely comfortable with me shouting the word vagina right?
Want to learn more about Stir or find an event near you? Match.com members can learn about and sign up for events by Match.com under the “Events” header on the site.
Disclosure: I’m receiving a complimentary ticket to a Stir event by Match.com for review. I did not receive compensation for this post. No request to share any particular point of view was made. All opinions expressed here are strictly my own and hopefully my happier vagina’s when I find myself a man at the Stir event.
